Boulder Bourbon is meticulously aged in select oak casks in Colorado's intense and highly volatile weather that finesses a more efficient and effective aging process that creates a depth of character, smoothness and flavor of whiskies aged much longer. This bourbon is blended from the distillers pick of the finest white corn, plump 2-row barley malt and spicy rye malt to bring a unique dryer flavor without the corn forward sweetness of a traditional Bourbon.
Just a clean, soft, super-smooth vodka with a subtle hint of sweetness that makes it perfect for sipping or mixing to perfection into your favorite cocktails. We start with pure Colorado rocky mountain water and use only the highest purity alcohol that has been distilled from corn, and produce a pure, simple, honest, vodka.
Boulder gin that we distill in small batches with the finest, hand selected botanicals and ingredients then aged to perfection for a minimum of 2 years in New, #3-char, American Oak Barrels to produce the rich smoky caramel, vanilla, and warm spicy oak flavors more commonly associated with whiskey – Hence the name “Ginskey” which we think is the perfect description for this unique “Brown Gin” only attempted by a handful of distilleries in the entire country.
A New Western style gin with the careful inclusion of Lavender, Hibiscus, Lemon and Orange Citrus Peel, Sencha Green Tea, Angelica, and Chamomile Blossoms along with the traditional Juniper and Coriander that creates the balanced blend of botanicals in this truly exceptional Handcrafted Gin.

Drinks must not contain more than 7 ingredients, including fruit juices, syrups, drops or dashes. Solid garnishes are not considered ingredients. It is acceptable to additionally spray a citrus fruit zest over the drink if specified as a garnish. With a few exceptions, it is the simple drinks that have gone on to become classics, and due to this, the judges will be instructed to favor simples drinks with fewer ingredients.
Hot ingredients, premixes of any kind or home preparations are authorized only with advance written authority of the competition organizers. Competitors wishing to use these should submit their request at least 10 days before the day of competition but are advised to seek permission as soon as possible.
Recipes that can be easily replicated are preferred, so unless judges give advanced written authority (rule 5 above), ingredients must be readily/widely available proprietary products, fruit or commonly found bar products.
Recipes must contain a minimum of 1 oz. of any Boulder Spirits brand and the total combined alcoholic ingredients must be equivalent to no more than 3.5 oz.
Ingredients may be measured using a jigger or similar measure, or freely poured.
Recipes entered must be the original creation of the competitor, and if a competitor is thought to have plagiarized a known, existing cocktail, they will be disqualified.
Recipes entered must be expressed in “shots” or ounces with the use of “dashes” and/or “drops” limited to bitters, hot pepper sauce and the like. Fruit juice quantities must also be stipulated, e.g. “squeeze of lime” is unacceptable.
Drinks & Preparation
Drinks must be assembled in front of the judges at the “Live Finals” event.
Drinks may be hand-stirred, hand-shaken or blended in an electric mixer.
Competitors must supply their own bartending utensils (shaker, bar spoon, strainer, etc.)
Cocktails must be presented in any shape of glass, cup or other hygienic and safe receptacle. The organizer will supply limited basic glassware, but competitors are advised to bring their own. Note: Points are awarded for presentation. No brand name or logo other than the regular discrete mark of the glassware manufacturer should be visible
The organizers will supply frozen cubed ice (approx. 1 inch square), so please inform them if crushed ice or an ice block is required.
Drinks may be served hot (with the organizers’ written consent), straight-up or over cubed, cracked or crushed ice.
Each competitor must make at least four identical drinks (three for the judges and the other for the photographer).
Competitors must be able to prepare drinks with a strict maximum of 12 minutes but will be given an additional 5 minutes prior to making their drink to familiarize themselves with the bar area and prepare equipment and ingredients. When the timer reaches the 12-minute mark, competitors will be asked by the MC to stop what they are doing if they have not already finished.
Competitors serving drinks that appear inedible or working with unhygienic methods will be disqualified and their drinks discarded without being sampled.
The Boldest Bartender Competition will be judged by an esteemed panel of spirits industry experts from Dining Out Magazine. This panel of judges works directly with bartenders and On Premise operators and understands the dynamics of their operations and the consumers they serve. They will apply their expertise to judge the cocktail entries and the skills and performance of the participating bartenders to determine the Boldest Bartender of 2018!
